The Archives of the President's Office (UA-3) consists of consists of photographs; audiovisual materials; newspaper clippings; pamphlets and posters; Dalhousie publications and other printed material; student and personnel files; correspondence; manuscripts; reports created by or reviewed by senior administration; financial materials including accounts payable and receivable documents, budgets, and ledgers; legal documents, including deeds and leases; diaries; scrapbooks; meeting minutes and agendas; academic plans; speeches; and other documents related to the senior administration’s sphere of responsibility. The Archives of the Senate of Dalhousie University (UA-5) consists of a range of documents related to the Senate’s sphere of responsibility, including correspondence; memos; meeting minutes and agendas; policies, regulations, and guidelines; Senate constitutional handbooks; reports; motions; proposals for the creation, suspension, and the termination of programs, departments, faculties, centres, and institutes submitted to the Senate for consideration; architectural drawings; newsletters and mail outs; the curriculum vitas of Senate members; and appeal cases. Digitized minutes of the Board of Governors.

This fonds reflects all aspects of the Board’s sphere of responsibility and include correspondence with members and outside individuals and agencies; meeting minutes and agendas; reports created or reviewed by the Board; annual reports; financial documents which include ledgers, budgets, statements, and other materials; officer lists; orientation packages for members; and various other materials related to the overall management of the university and its assets.

The University Archives holds a complete run of the Dalhousie Gazette, dating back to 1869. The collection has been digitized and made available in DalSpace. It is an invaluable source of information about campus life over the years.

Digitized minutes of the University Senate.

The University Archives holds a variety of registers and log books dating to the earliest years of the University. These registers contain information on student registrations, examinations, and matriculations. Some access restrictions may apply.

Dalhousie University Calendars from 1865 to 1950 are scanned and available online. A complete run of university calendars is available in the University Archives. The early calendars contain lists of students enrolled in each faculty. Some calendars from individual faculties and schools can also be found in the University Archives.

Dalhousie University Yearbooks from 1927 to 1975 are scanned and available in DalSpace. A complete run of university yearbooks from 1927 to 1998 are available in the University Archives. Faculty yearbooks (e.g., Law, Engineering) can also be found in the University Archives or in other locations throughout the Dalhousie Libraries.
