NSAC and Dalhousie merged in 2012, and today’s Faculty of Agriculture was officially founded on September 1, 2012
The School of Agriculture was created within the Provincial Normal School in 1885
The Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) was founded through the merger of the School of Agriculture, the provincial farm, and the School of Horticulture on February 14, 1905
The first class to graduate with a BSC (Agriculture) in the names of both universities was in 1985, the same year as NSAC’s 100th anniversary
NSAC offers the only university level programs in agriculture in Atlantic Canada

Harold Cook was the first Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture from 2012-2013
Claude Caldwell
Claude Caldwell was acting Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture in 2013
David Gray
David Gray has been Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture from 2013 to present

Angus Banting
Angus Banting was the head of Agricultural Engineering at the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, the first Professor of Agricultural Engineering at NSAC (1937-1952), and namesake of the current Banting Building.
Glenn Ells
Glenn Ells graduated from NSAC in Agriculture in 1953, as part of the last class housed in the nurses quarters in Debert. He became a farmer, and the former MLA for King’s North.
Helen Woodroffe
Helen Woodroffe was the first female to graduate both from NSAC and the Faculty of Agriculture in 1913, and a founding member of the Red Cross.
Lt. B. H. Landels
Lt. B. H. Landels was a professor of Farm Underdrainage in the Faculty of Agriculture who died in 1916 at the Battle of the Somme during World War One.
