Arthur Shears was the founder and Medical Director of the Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy from 1963 to 1975, and was appointed Professor and Head of the Division of PMR from 1977 to 1989
Phyllis Noerager Stern was a professor and Director of the School of Nursing at Dalhousie from 1982-1987. She later founded the International Council on Women’s Health Issues, and was named a Living Legend of the American Academy of Nursing in 2008
