  • Established on April 1, 1997, with the merger of the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS) with Dalhousie University 
  • Teaching of engineering at Dalhousie dates back to 1891, when courses in Applied Science were introduced and several prominent engineers in Halifax taught engineering classes every two weeks
  • Dalhousie's Faculty of Engineering was established in 1906-7, around the same time that the Nova Scotia Technical College was suggested
  • When the College opened in 1909, the Faculty was discontinued with a few engineering courses still offered under the Faculty of Arts and Science
  • The Diploma in Engineering was established in 1922
