Responding to the demand for a discussion forum on these issues, the Carbon & Climate Law Review strikes a balance between the interests of practitioners and a more doctrinal focus, alternating legal policy recommendations with timely articles on legal aspects of climate change mitigation and adaptation. A section on current developments updates readers on recent developments, political decisions, new literature and relevant events. Most importantly, however, the Carbon & Climate Law Review brings together representatives from the legal discipline and other stakeholders in one specialised journal, allowing them to engage in a dynamic debate on the law of climate change.

A complex legal regime has evolved to frame the international response to climate, encompassing interconnected elements of public international law, transnational law and private law. At the core of the international effort are the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement. Domestic legislative action dealing with mitigation and adaptation is gathering pace, especially in developing countries. The focus of the peer-reviewed journal Climate Law is on the many legal issues that arise internationally and at the state level as climate law continues to evolve and climate change continues to worsen.

The Columbia Journal of Environmental Law was founded in 1972 with a grant from the Ford Foundation. The Journal is one of the oldest environmental law journals in the nation and is regarded as one of the preeminent environmental journals in the country.

Established in 1971, Ecology Law Quarterly is among the oldest and most prestigious journals publishing environmental law scholarship. Publishing four issues a year, ELQ provides a forum for preeminent scholarship on groundbreaking environmental law topics, including renewable energy, environmental justice, and international environmental law. In 2008, ELQ launched Ecology Law Currents, an online companion journal designed to publish pieces on a more frequent basis than the print journal.

The Harvard Environmental Law Review is the #1 environmental law journal in the United States, and has been published semi-annually by Harvard Law School students since 1976. HELR seeks to publish scholarship that significantly advances the field of environmental law, which we define broadly to include such areas as environmental justice; green infrastructure; energy; climate change; noise regulation; land use and property rights; toxic substances control; wildlife; natural resources; science and technology control; and workplace pollution.

Condensing essential information into just three issues a year, the Journal of Environmental Law has become an authoritative source of informed analysis for all those who have any dealings in this vital field of legal study. It exists primarily for academics and legal practitioners, but should also prove accessible for all other groups concerned with the environment, from scientists to planners. The journal offers major articles on a wide variety of topics, refereed and written to the highest standards, providing innovative and authoritative appraisals of current and emerging concepts, policies, and practice.

The McGill International Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy (JSDLP) provides a forum in which the world’s leading scholars exchange ideas on the intersection between law, development, the environment, economics, and society. Over the past quarter-century, determining how to enrich our world in a more sustainable fashion has become an imperative, especially given the impact of development on the environment and human rights. Despite this pressing need for new ideas, there are few outlets for informed and focused commentary on sustainability, particularly in Canada. In response to this void, students at the Faculty of Law of McGill University established the JSDLP, a student-run, peer-reviewed academic journal, in 2004.
