Catalogued Books
Catalogued books are ones that you can check out of the library. They are located in the shelving (stacks) on the first floor of the library. To find them, go down the stairs straight across from the library entrance and head either left (KB 86-KH) or right (D, JX-KB 85). If you're just browsing, check out the list of call numbers below. If you're looking for a specific book, use the NovaNet catalog to find the specific call number and use the signs on the shelves to find the range the book is in. Still lost? Ask a circulation assistant!
Primary Sources
Primary sources such as case reporters, Hansards, and legislation are located in the Canada Room, to the right of the library entrance. These materials cannot be checked out of the library, but can be used inside. The Canada Room is home to our Canadian and Commonwealth material. If you are looking for American sources, go down the stairs, head right, and go to the compact shelves on the far left of the room.
Reserve Collection
The Reserve Collection is home to our in-demand items and includes textbooks, looseleafs, and commentary. These materials are for in-library use only, and must be returned to the shelf by end-of-day. The books are organized by call number, starting with JX and moving to the KBs, with some labels highlighting important legal areas.
Journals
Journals can be found in our Serials Collection on the third floor of the library. Head up the stairs across from the library entrance and up one floor. Journals are organized alphabetically by title.
Not sure where to start? Browsing the shelves in the stacks is an excellent way to find helpful resources!
