A guide for International Baccalaureate (IB) students using Dalhousie's Killam Library.

Search Novanet

  • You can use Novanet to find and access print books, eBooks and online articles.

You can search Novanet from anywhere. Try it now with the box below.

  • We suggest logging into Novanet to retrieve the most complete results.
  • You can access most of Dalhousie’s online library resources (databases, ebooks, articles) from the public computers (Express workstations) in the Killam. You do not have off-campus access to these resources (with the exception of unpaywalled PDFs - see below), but you may download, save or email yourself articles while you are here.

Get PDFs unpaywalled

  • While you are largely unable to access online resources from Dalhousie Libraries off campus, there are exemptions for some open access resources.
  • Under some resources found in the Novanet catalogue, Novanet provides a "Get PDF (src: Unpaywall)" buttonScreenshot of a article on Novanet with the Get PDF Unpaywalled button circled in red.
  • Clicking this button will download a PDF of the article onto your computer or redirect you to another webpage that should contain the article.
