Chef, TV host, and recording artist Roger Mooking will champion the novel Butter Honey Pig Bread by Francesca Ekwuyasi on Canada Reads 2021. Ahead of the debates, Roger and Francessca got together virtually to discuss this moving novel and the great Canadian book debate.
Francesca Ekwuyasi is nominated for the 2021 FNA Award for her book Butter Honey Pig Bread. Ekwuyasi is a writer, artist, and filmmaker born in Lagos, Nigeria. Her work explores themes of faith, family, queerness, consumption, loneliness, and belonging. Butter Honey Pig Bread was also a 2021 Canada Reads finalist and longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. Francesca currently lives in Halifax.
