Guide to Archival Research

A guide on using archival materials held in the Dalhousie University Archives

Getting started

The Archives Catalogue has detailed instructions on how to browse the catalogue.

Remember, when you're browsing, you'll need to make note of the title and reference code. This information will help Archives staff find the materials you are requesting.

Please note that the majority of our holdings are not catalogued.  We are constantly working to add more information to the archives catalogue.  If browsing doesn't lead you to results, you may need to search the catalogue or contact our reference desk. You can also search in MemoryNS, a catalogue of archival collections preserved by institutions across Nova Scotia.
