What are Government Regulations?

Government Regulations are rules, restrictions, or guidelines created at various level of government to enforce legislation. There are regulations that impact all aspects of the food industry around the world. These guidelines can control the processes involved with:

  • Agriculture and farming
  • Food processing machinery
  • Food manufacturering
  • Food production
  • Food packaging and labelling
  • Product storage and distribution
  • Food marketing and advertising

The combination of regulations that impact an industry is often referred to as the Regulatory Environment.  The regulatory environment in Canada is different than the regulatory environment in the United States or other parts of the world.

The resources below will help you learn more about regulations that impact the food industry. Or, try searching for regulations using the quick links to the left.
